Neophytes Mass, testimonies

Emotional encounter

Although I did not grow up as a Christian, I was always interested in the Catholic Faith. My wife is Catholic and we were married in the Catholic Church.  In January 2010, I made the bold move to enter the faith and I started the RCIA Journey. It was at a retreat that I fully realised that I had taken the best step in getting to know Jesus Christ. My encounter with Jesus was emotional. As I prayed and talked with him the tears rolled down my cheeks and I felt a weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Regular attendance at Mass, Lectio Divina, the Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving and the Seder Meal all led to Holy Thursday when I was chosen for the washing of the feet. I felt unworthy and tears flowed as Fr Kumar washed and kissed my feet.

On entering the baptismal font at the Easter Vigil I said, “Father, do you know how long I have waited for this occasion?”  I felt as light as a feather.

After receiving Holy Communion I knelt and praised and thanked God for guiding me through this spiritual journey. Surand Natth Budree, Holy Cross Princes Town
