‘Welcoming the Neophytes’ 2011
A miraculous experience
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11.
This is what the Lord has done for me, given me hope and a future, this and so much more. The word of our Lord is the truth and Jesus Christ is my Lord, my God and my Saviour.
If someone had told me I would proclaim this five years ago I would have told them they were crazy and I want nothing to do with anything associated with “God”. Our merciful God however had other plans and I am thankful that He did.
My journey to becoming Catholic was a very eventful one. To be honest, I went from not caring whether I was dead or alive to being thankful for life and wanting to know everything I possibly can about Jesus. In the very beginning I questioned myself as to whether I should convert or not but I was given an unquestionable “yes” from God.
Since then through the instructions and teachings of the leaders of the RCIA class, my sponsor and a few others, my view and understanding of life’s situations, people, death, problems and so many other things have changed.
Receiving Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time was miraculous. I was overcome with emotions knowing that I am so unworthy and yet He allowed me to receive Him. I am proud to be a member of the Body of Christ as I continue my journey with Our Lord, Jesus. – Geeta Bishunath
