‘Welcoming the Neophytes’ 2011
I surrender my life to God
I was born the eighth of my father’s nine children. My family and I were faced with a lot of trials and tribulations but being the very close-knit family, our love, togetherness and prayers made our challenges somewhat easier to handle. I found even more comfort when I would say the prayers that I learnt from my Presbyterian school and even better by humming some of my favourite hymns like Jesus loves me.
Later in life maybe it was by fate I fell in love and got married to a Catholic and thereafter I started attending Church with him.
At this point in my life my parents had grown old and I willingly took full responsibility of caring for them. With constant prayers I asked God to give me strength to take the best possible care of my most precious parents, I was able to receive their blessings every day. I was truly touched by the Lord because when my parents passed away I was very saddened but felt satisfied for returning that love they gave to me in my life and felt comforted by my Lord again.
A couple of years ago my husband needed very costly brain surgery and also suffered from meningitis. With constant prayers and novenas he was miraculously able to recover.
I personally decided at this point that I wanted to become a Roman Catholic.
When I was baptised I felt as if I got new life and now I completely surrender my life to God. – Chandra Ramsawack
