Neophytes Mass, testimonies

My soul was singing praises

The Easter Vigil finally came and I was filled with mixed emotions. I was anxious and nervous about doing or saying something wrong, even though we had rehearsed the different parts we were involved in. I also had a feeling of great expectancy, looking forward to this new life that Baptism brings and I had a deep desire to experience what receiving Jesus in Holy Communion would feel like. During the scripture readings, I kept imagining what being baptised would feel like. When Fr Charles asked if I was ready, I simply held my hand out and stepped into the font and kept whispering, “Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus!” As the water was poured over me, I was filled with a deep happiness and joy. I felt as if my soul was singing praises. At the anointing, I am sure my godparent had to hold my shoulder with a firmer hand as I felt myself trembling. A wonderful feeling of peace and happiness came over me. I thank God for the transformation of my life and for all He has planned for the rest of my life. I pray that I will always remain faithful to God and my Catholic faith. – Anna Jaggernauth, St Mary’s, Mucurapo, St James
