When I was asked to write two paragraphs on what I had experienced for the last eight months as an RCIA candidate, the first thing that came to my mind was that I can never put down on paper all that I experienced during that time.

My journey began Easter 2010 when I came to support someone dear to me who was in the RCIA programme. After hearing Fr Francis give his weekly homily at Sunday Masses I came to realise what the Catholic faith is all about. It is not just going to church praising the Lord and going back home. It is much more than that. It teaches about family life, living in community with others and things that happen in everyday life. There is where my curiosity began so I decided to join that RCIA classes to learn more about the Faith.

While going to RCIA classes I began to learn about God and realised how much I had been missing. I started to take a serious look at my life and I knew I had to make some changes. During my time in the programme I came to know and love Jesus and I wanted to become closer to him.  So at Easter I was baptised. It was the most amazing feeling anyone can experience -being cleansed of all your sins, starting a new life, that weight of sin lifted from your shoulders. I know that my journey has just begun, but I feel and believe that I am finally home. – Dilya Benjamin, Mary Immaculate Queen, Bourg Mulatresse
