Asserting the Catholic Identity of our schools – Sep 23
The Archdiocesan Catechetical Office has Catholic Education Regional Officers (CERO) visiting all Catholic primary schools to ensure Religious Education is taught in an appropriate, systematic, creative way. They deal specifically with the religious aspect of the school. They work in collaboration with the Catholic Education Board of Management, the teachers and the principal of the school.
These officers ensure the school principal and teachers are equipped to carry out the mandate of inculcating and preserving the Catholic identity of our schools.
The Archdiocesan Catechetical Office has produced resource material (text and workbook) for both primary and secondary school level. There is also a manual for the Primary School RI teacher to help in planning the lessons for the term and for evaluating the students on what has been taught. Another resource material is the Catechist Magazine, which comes out seven times a year. The cost for the seven issues is TT$175.00.
The Adult Faith Formation Correspondence Course is also available. This consists of 27 lessons. Each participant receives three lessons at a time, studies them and then completes the answer sheet. When the answer sheets are returned, three more lessons are mailed out. This Course will be offered on-line in the near future. The cost of this Course is TT$200.00.
